What Customers Say About The self-publishing manual: How to write, print and sell your own book:

This guy is truly the friend of the self publishing business. All you need to know.

I have been reading and researching information for publishing and self publishing alike. I can't tell you how the section on researching non-fiction has helped me substantially. I needed information to flesh out what I had learned. This is definitely a wonderful addition to your library if you are interested in writing and publishing your own work. R.D. JentschHot on the Range

It is inconceivable this alarmingly outdated 14th edition is still offered for sale. 14th edition belongs in the remainder bin, and nowhere else. Look up the 16th edition.

Thanks to Dan Poynter's excellent resources volume, I managed to get my first book published, avoiding many pitfalls and incorporating some excellent ideas (like placing my title on the spine so that it will read vertically when sitting on a shelf. Attention to details will guarantee a much better chance of success and Dan gives you details. Dan's advice runs from the minute details of packaging to the timelines to marketing, with lots more than the average person will be able to take in. I recommend this book for everyone who wants to be published EVEN IF you do not publish yourself. Donna P. Savage, Author of The Man and The Shark: A Modern Day Fable of Awakening and Rebirth

I've personally spoken with Poynter, and it's clear he knows his stuff. You'll think, "Oh, I'll just start collecting information, put it into order, then I'll be ready to publish." It's not that easy, and Poynter makes it sound like if you read this book, it will be.Don't buy into the magic bullet nature of the book. We talked about his "binder system," and how to take advantage of digital tools to market and promote your book. With that said, this book is a little outdated, and he makes the whole process sound much simpler than it really is. It's helpful, and it offers some nuggets of wisdom. But be ready to keep working, writing, and learning more about the self-publishing business - especially the way the Internet is changing the game.
